2014 Rock and Roll Half Marathon

Love wakin' up to another RACE day! Yesterday...a friend asked if this is a "personally significant" run for me? I told him that...at this point...they are all "personally significant"...and that each trip to the starting line is a small celebration for these legs, lungs and this heart. In some small way...today's run will also celebrate a life well-lived. Our dear friend Andy Keninitz was supposed to run his first 5K today...but he didn't make it to his starting line. Thoughts will most definitely be with him this morning. Rest in peace, Andy. The first 3.1 today are for you, buddy...

Officially a 1:51 finish in today's Rock and Roll Half Marathon. All things considered...pretty pleased with that. This will easily be my biggest negative split to date. Mostly 8:40 - 9:00 over the first half...and a few sub-8:00's in the second. Perfect morning to run...a big field...and awesome crowd support!

I am a runner and a certified running coach.  I have completed 9 marathons and 6 half marathons, but the greatest reward has been helping others achieve their running goals.  My hope is that you'll read something here that will inspire you to take that first step.
